Kerala's Warrior Bodywork

A 7-Day Kalari Uzhichal Therapy

Born within Kalaripayattu — Kerala's ancient martial art — Kalari Uzhichal is the healing bodywork that kept warriors supple, strong, and swift. Over seven days, skilled therapists work the body with warm oils and rhythmic pressure, awakening the vital points, restoring flexibility, and leaving you feeling loose, light, and renewed.

Who Is It For?

This therapy is for active bodies seeking suppleness and recovery. It may suit you if you are:

  • An athlete, dancer, martial artist, or simply someone who moves a lot.
  • Carrying stiffness, limited mobility, or back and joint tightness.
  • Recovering from exertion and wanting to restore range of movement.
  • Drawn to an authentic, traditional Kerala bodywork experience.

This is the therapy itself, rooted in Kalari Chikitsa (the healing arm of Kalaripayattu) — not a certification course. Our therapists begin by understanding your body and needs, and adapt the work to suit you.

What You Will Gain

  • Greater Flexibility: Deep, sweeping bodywork may improve suppleness and range of motion.
  • Better Recovery: Supports muscular recovery and eases the tightness that follows exertion.
  • Eased Stiffness: May help relieve back stiffness and improve circulation.
  • Revitalised Energy: Work on the vital points (marma) and energy channels (nadis) leaves the body feeling awake and alive.

This is supportive, restorative bodywork. We'll be honest about what a week can offer, and meet you with skill and care throughout.

Your Treatments

Your sessions are guided by skilled Kalari therapists, drawing on the tradition's signature bodywork:

  • Chavutti Uzhichal (foot-pressure massage): the therapist, steadied by an overhead rope, applies long, sweeping strokes with the feet using warm herbal oils — a deep, full-length massage unique to Kerala.
  • Marma Uzhichil (vital-point bodywork): rhythmic compressions, targeted pressure on the marma points, and assisted stretches.
  • Warm Herbal Oils: dosha-appropriate oils chosen to nourish the muscles and joints.
  • Graded Stretching & Herbal Baths: gentle mobility work and warm baths to deepen the benefits across the week.

What Your Days Might Look Like

The days center on the bodywork, with rest and movement around it:

  • Morning: Gentle warm-up or yoga, then a nourishing breakfast.
  • Midday: Warm-oil preparation, then your main bodywork session — Chavutti Uzhichal or marma work — followed by rest.
  • Afternoon: A light, sattvic lunch, a herbal bath, and quiet recovery time.
  • Evening: Graded stretching or gentle relaxation, an early dinner, and restful sleep.

Across seven days, the body is worked, warmed, and awakened — and you leave feeling looser, stronger, and remarkably light on your feet.
